Matthew jumped from his desk, knocking over a chair. “Maple!” He threw a lamp at the intruder, but it never went farther then the cord in the wall. It fell in a crash in the center of the room. The light bulb in the lamp collided with the floor causing a crash and a black out inside the room. Canada freaked out. He was alone in a big house with a man who just broke in. He didn’t know who it was because he couldn’t see his face and he couldn’t understand a single word that this he was speaking.
Mathias stopped yelling, only to fall backwards with laughter. He had gotten his old friend damn good! The yelp that had left Canada’s lips was most satisfying to the Dane.
“Matthew, Matthew…” He sputtered between giggles.
“It’s okay.” More laughter “It’s me.”
After a few more seconds of his giggle fit, Mathias calmed down, and wiped a tear from his eye. He couldn’t see now, because Matthew had broken his only source of light.
Matthew stopped panicking for a moment. He recognized this voice from somewhere. It had been a long time since he heard this man. “M-Mathias, is t-that you? W-Why would you do that?” He could still feel his heart beating in his chest. He was so scared. For a moment, he thought he was going to die, from either a heart attack or from the stranger. That was the single most terrifying event of his life.
“Man you should have seen your face!” Mathias responded. He got up slowly and took a step towards Matthew to give him the hug he had planned.
“Ow!” He said, feeling bits of broken glass lodge into his foot as he stepped near the lamp that had been thrown.
“What did that lamp ever do to you, Matthew?” He said, as he gingerly reached for his foot to feel out the location of the glass.
Matthew leaned into Mathias’ hug. He was so glad it was him. It could have been the fact that his heart almost exploded, but he was really happy to see, or not see, him. Matt giggled a little at his joke. Mathias always had a good sense of humor.
“Are you okay?” Although he felt he deserved it, Matthew wanted to make sure he was okay.
“It’s good to see you again.”
